VOLUNTEERS

WHO'S WHO AND WHAT WE DO IN TRACKS

Trail Crew

Volunteers help build, maintain and improve trails, usually once a week, with each person working at her/his level for about 2 – 3 hours. There are more than 200 miles of regional trails within the Apache-Sitgreaves Forest, requiring continual care and maintenance. This hard work has paid off and we are proud to be listed as one of Arizona’s Premier Trail Systems by Arizona State Parks.

Trail Stewards

We ask stewards to hike their assigned trail at least twice a year to inspect trail conditions and clean up any trash or fix minor problems, such as pick up trash, cleaning up down limbs and improving drainage ditches.  They also look if Trail Diamond Markers need to be added and/or replaced. If additional work is needed, the trail crew supervisor is notified.

Trail Head Adopter

They are responsible for the trail access point, which they check weekly, or frequently as needed that the map box is replenished, and trash is picked up from around the kiosk and the surrounding parking area.  They report issues of vandalism or trailhead kiosk damage to the coordinator.

Roadside Cleanup

To help keep our community beautiful, TRACKS has adopted a one-mile section of Highway 260/White Mountain Boulevard near the Family Fun Park in Pinetop-Lakeside. We volunteer to clean up in both Spring and Fall.

Community Support

There are several community events that TRACKS supports through our volunteers. Members receive emails inviting them to volunteer for these events. A few of these events include:

 Tour of the White Mountains (mountain bike race)
 Fall Artisans Festival (held at The Orchard at Charlie Clark’s)
 Firewise Expo
 Arizona Game & Fish Expo
